Following last year’s championship in Sweden and Denmark, the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship has moved to Switzerland, where national teams are battling it out on the ice in the cities of Zurich and Fribourg. As every year, fans are accompanied by cars from Mladá Boleslav, whether displayed directly inside the arenas by the ice rink or involved in entertainment activities within the Official Fan Zones.
The Škoda Elroq models equipped with an integrated karaoke system are particularly popular, offering visitors a unique experience. One specially modified vehicle is available at each arena, with the activity open to the general public. The process is entirely intuitive: visitors take their seats inside the vehicle featuring a ice hockey-themed interior, select one of four iconic hits via the modified central display, and can immediately begin singing.
33 Years Together
Škoda Auto has supported the world-class ice hockey event since 1992 as the mobility partner and, since 1993, as the Official Main Sponsor of the tournament. This year, Škoda Auto has provided the organisers with 53 electric Elroq and Enyaq electric vehicles. The Škoda Design department has also traditionally been responsible for designing and creating the trophy for the Most Valuable Player. The emerald-green trophy, made of hand-blown genuine Czech crystal, was designed in accordance with the brand’s new Modern Solid design language.
The selected songs are played directly through the car’s audio system, while the occupants are monitored by three action cameras with microphones mounted on the windscreen. The song lyrics are synchronously displayed on the central screen, similarly to traditional karaoke systems. Once the session is over, participants can receive a vertically oriented video featuring footage from all cameras via e-mail, providing them with a memorable keepsake. Karaoke cars are not new to the world of Škoda. Fans already had the opportunity to sing in them during last year’s Ice Hockey World Championship. A total of 1,226 videos were created last year.

The Singing Is Not the End of It
Visitors also have the opportunity to take part in interactive competitions testing their reflexes and ice hockey skills, use a photo booth featuring an oversized goalie mask, or closely explore the displayed vehicles. One of them is the brand-new affordable electric model Epiq, which celebrated its world premiere here just a few days ago. The accompanying programme follows the imaginative spirit of the campaign for the Epiq model, centred around the main motif of modelling clay.
